Momming in November
It is a verb. It is that weird time of year just before the holidays and finding joy in the holiday can be rough as you run your child from place to place, do the shopping, cooking, and cleaning for guests. Sometimes we can get lost in the thick of it; however, I have come to find you. Here are three things we do to keep our hearts, minds, and bodies as happy and healthy as possible during this season.
- Slow down.
- The days are getting shorter and it is harder and harder to stay awake. Take on less. Make wholesome meals, talk to your kids, enjoy the laughter that fills your home. Plan to not have plans. Sure you have to get your kids to practice and wherever but don’t make extra plans. Read your Bible at night instead of hanging out on social media. Watch a movie with your husband without working. Don’t be in a rush to put up the tree. Slow Down.
- Diffuse.
- We diffuse a lot more during this time. You can find other posts about why I don’t do scented candles and such, but I absolutely love the smell of a happy home. Click here for some November diffuser recipes. We start the diffuser in the morning and restart it after school. On the weekends, I allow my children to pick the blend of essential oils. Start small with things you love and then grow your collection.
- Live in Gratitude.
- We live these amazing lives. Share your thankfulness for them. We have a pumpkin that we write on. Each day someone new gets to write one thing of which they are thankful. It is amazing to see the things my daughters 11, 8, and 5 years old are writing down. Children have so much love in their hearts and oozes out of my girls this time of year. When I look at the pumpkin I see love, peace, joy, and I cannot imagine a better life than the one God granted me.
I hope you relax into this season sharing your unique gifts with your family. Finding joy in the holiday can be rough, but try to slow down, diffuse, and live in gratitude and see what comes. Have a blessed Thanksgiving and keep growing in faith, joy, love and peace as we enter this holiday season.
